You use much less, with this very strong saffron, only a few strands is more than enough per serving. Ours has 2 years expiry date and each individual gram will remain fresh and aromatic. The over powering smell will be apparent from the moment you open the packet, and each gram had an airtight resealable packet, and the bag that contains all 5 grams is also airtight and resealable, double ensuring all of your saffron stays fresh and perfect.
The best way to use your saffron is with a pestle and mortar; if you add the required amount into the pestle and mortar and then grind it until it turns into powder (only around 10 to 20 seconds of grinding required). Then pour a small amount of boiling water into the pestle and mortar and leave it for a few minutes until all the colour and flavour has diffused into the water, and then pour the water into your food, or tea, or whatever you are using it for.
